Practicum and Internships
As part of their training experience, students enrolled in the Latina/o mental health
training program also engage in direct clinical work with the community. Students
are placed at local community-based agencies, clinics, and school-based locations
where they have the opportunity to provide services to underserved Latina/o communities.
Aliento has partnered with local agencies that provide our students with opportunities
to engage in clinical work with both bilingual and monolingual Spanish- and English-speaking
Latina/o communities. During their clinical work, students will also be supervised
by clinicians who are bilingual Spanish-speaking and who also have knowledge of working
with Latina/o communities. It is important that our students receive the support they
need in order to provide culturally and linguistically responsive services to the
community.
