English Language Instructor for Children or Adults

A TESOL educator is responsible for ensuring that students learn reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, and English language skills for students whose primary language is not English, including both children and adult students. Teaching within this realm includes duties such as preparing lessons, assigning homework and reading, grading student work, and tracking progress to ensure students are meeting language proficiency standards.


International Teacher

An international teacher is a professional who teaches in a foreign country, usually in an international school or language institute. Their primary responsibility is to provide high-quality instruction to students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, preparing them for success in a globalized world.


ESL College Professor

An ESL college professor is a professional who teaches English as a Second Language (ESL) to students at the college/tertiary level. The primary responsibility of an ESL college professor is to develop and implement courses that help students achieve proficiency in the English language. At the same time, ESL college professors play an important role in supporting students' cultural integration and helping them adjust to life in an English-speaking country.


Online English Language Instructor

An online English language instructor engages in teaching and learning in virtual environments. This could include working with students in synchronous or asynchronous instruction, or employing fully remote or hybrid remote and face-to-face instruction with their students.


TOEFL or IELTS Instructor

A TOEFL or IELTS instructor’s role is to prepare non-native speakers of English to take either of these standardized assessments: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). These assessments are internationally used as benchmarks to support students who want to enroll in English-speaking universities.


International Student Services Officer

An International Student Services Officer is a professional responsible for providing support and assistance to international students studying at a college or university. Their primary responsibility is to ensure that international students have a positive and successful experience while studying in a foreign country.


Humanitarian

A humanitarian seeks to promote human welfare either domestically or abroad. Oftentimes, humanitarian work includes the teaching of English as it meets the holistic educational needs of people. Within the United States, this could include teaching English to immigrants or refugees. Outside of the United States, this could also include serving as a language expert with non-profit, missions, or development organizations.


Curriculum Specialist

A curriculum specialist is a professional who is responsible for developing and implementing educational programs and materials. Their primary role is to ensure that programs meet the needs of students, the institution, and also comply with relevant academic standards and regulations. They serve a critical role in supporting the development of effective educational programs and preparing students for success in academic and professional life.


Language / Cultural Advisor

A language and cultural advisor is a professional who is responsible for providing expertise in language and culture to individuals, organizations, or businesses. Their primary role is to provide guidance and advice on matters related to language and cultural differences.


Translator

A career as a translator holds the responsibility of translating materials from one language to another, or many. This can include school materials, work documents, and media such as motion pictures and music audio. This position can also be verbal, meaning the responsibility is to verbally translate from one language to another to ensure efficient communication and understanding across parties.


Private Tutor

A role as a private tutor can encompass a variety of responsibilities. Oftentimes, these positions are responsible for adding additional academic instruction outside of the classroom to ensure students are properly understanding the material. This can sometimes include adding additional coursework to help implement concepts and further understanding of the course material.
