Using my M.A.P. for Daily Guidance

Each day, I give time for Meditation and Prayer (M.A.P.) to help me get started on having a good day. I often refer to this time with my Higher Power as “using my M.A.P. for daily guidance.” Daily meditation and prayer have been known to:

  • help me get “right-sized” (Big “YOU”, God. Little “i”, me)
  • help me to stay grounded throughout the day
  • help begin my day with an “Attitude of Gratitude”

During my meditation, I will often use one or several of the lines from “The Peace Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi” for positive affirmation. Below is the prayer.

As we begin this new year, I hope these words help guide you on this journey called life and point you to God's love, promises, and truth. For me, they have reduced stress, raised compassion, and brought me a deeper sense of connection to my Higher Power and the people I encounter as I go through my day. I pray they do the same for you.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me bring love.

Where there is offense, let me bring pardon.

Where there is discord, let me bring union.

Where there is error, let me bring truth.

Where there is doubt, let me bring faith.

Where there is despair, let me bring hope.

Where there is darkness, let me bring your light.

Where there is sadness, let me bring joy.

O Master, let me not seek as much

to be consoled as to console,

to be understood as to understand,

to be loved as to love,

for it is in giving that one receives,

it is in self-forgetting that one finds,

it is in pardoning that one is pardoned,

it is in dying that one is raised to eternal life.
