God's Prescription | Morning and Night

In the morning: Ephesians 6: 10-19

Every morning, consider reading Ephesians 6:10-19 and memorize the scriptures. When you are feeling overwhelmed and troubled, take a step back, and reflect on this prayer, and remain encouraged by standing firm in the power of God.

A Prayer to be Battle Ready

Help me remember, God, to put on your whole armor, understanding the spiritual battle I face in enemy territory that is a daily part of the Christian life. Thank you for giving me the Holy Spirit to fight this war with Your supernatural power.

I put on your belt of Truth, the breastplate of Righteousness, footgear of Readiness, the shield of Faith, the helmet of my Salvation and take hold of the sword of Your Word. Remind me that it is not people I fight against, but is the principalities, powers, rulers, and authorities in spiritually wicked and high places. Help me accomplish Your plan by being obedient to what You would have me do for Your eternal purpose.

Belt of Truth: Satan fights with lies, which can sound like truth. Only believers have the truth which can defeat Satan's lies.

Breastplate of Righteousness: Satan often attacks the heart of our emotions. The breastplate represents God's love for us and His protection of our hearts.

Footgear of Readiness: Be ready to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Shield of Faith: Our faith in God and his power helps deter Satan's attacks, insults, setbacks, and temptations, all coming at us in the form of firing arrows. The shield protects us from these arrows allowing us to see the victory beyond the arrows.

Helmet of Salvation: Doubt is Satan's number one strategy. The helmet protects us by reminding us of our unwavering salvation.

Sword, the Word of God: The Bible serves as the primary weapon of offense, when tempted, recite the Word of God. It is the only weapon to stand firm against an offensive attack.

Amen.

In the evening: Psalm 91

Every night, consider reading Psalm 91 and place your Bible opened to this Psalm on your bed stand. Ask the warring angels who serve God to surround your bedroom, protecting you from the wickedness that stalks the earth as you sleep.

A Prayer to God, the Protector

Through stress, danger, and the fears that inflict me, I know You are here Father to protect me with Your shelter, a place of refuge from the darkness that stalks the earth. I trust in You to turn all my fears into faith by resting in Your love and protection that keeps me safe and comforted. Thank you for the angels You have commanded to watch over me, reminding me You are in full control and that You have conquered the world.

Amen.
