Let Your Faith be Bigger Than Your Fears

We all have moments of vulnerability, fear, and worry as an inevitable component of our human experience. These emotions can wreak heavy-duty havoc on our well-being and functioning if we are not proactively addressing them in powerful and sustainable ways - which we all thankfully can do.

Whether your fear is related to your career, love life, finances, or health, the common denominator is that all of these concerns are real and reasonable. After all, it is part of our ability to be vigilant of unfavorable situations so that we can respond in ways that ensure safety and more desirable outcomes (i.e., our fight or flight system during a stressful event). However, when we are carrying ongoing fears and worries that become chronic, they begin to hinder our peace and potential.

Having spent over a decade studying, researching, and practicing the behavioral health field, I undeniably value the world of psychology and humans' ability to restructure cognitions and, consequently, impact our emotions and behaviors - the power of our mind is undoubtedly quite helpful. Yet despite the myriad of skills we possess and can develop to help us cope, our abilities are fortified and significantly elevated when combined with that is spiritually nourished soul and connected to God.

As much as we can influence outcomes with autonomy of thought and choice, an unwavering factor that endures across all matters is the power of faith. Each of us can receive strength and hope beyond understanding. All we have to do is be a believer. We can lean into our faith not only on our dreadful days of despair but every day and allow prayer to permeate our lives, whether expressing gratitude or making a specific, divine request. When continuously connected with the Holy Spirit, our life is enriched and abundant in the most reliable way.

A simple yet powerful way to start and/or end each day is by asking and thanking God for His love and light, peace and blessings, goodness and grace, guidance and protection, favors and miracles. I gently invite you to speak these words over your life and remain open to receiving God's gifts and promises!

“Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”  (John 14:27)

“Be strong and courageous for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
