Strength in Transition

With the new year approaching, an abundance of mixed feelings fills my mind. In December I will complete my academic program, earning a master’s in Leadership in Higher Education. I am juggling the excitement over my accomplishments and anxiety over the unknown path ahead, along with the goals I anticipate to achieve. My antidote for these brewing emotions is to focus on who is beside me and the strengths I’ve been gifted.

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with My victorious right hand. – Isaiah 41:10

The reality of this chapter of my life coming to a close, and the fear of the unknown for the next chapter to begin sometimes feels like I’m on a rollercoaster and I can’t catch my breath. I find peace reflecting on who is on this ride with me. My peace is in God, He has promised to hold me up with His right hand. Therefore, I can move through the remainder of my academic program, throwing my hands up and enjoying the ride – trusting in God’s provision.

I find peace in God’s presence. Walking together into this new chapter feels less frightening with the gifts of power, love, and self-discipline from Him. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity but of power, love, and self-discipline. – 2 Timothy 1:7

I am reminded to find comfort in being thankful for the ups and downs, which help me grow in trusting God. The weight of my unchecked to-do list feels lighter because of the spirit of power, love, and self-discipline God is nurturing within me.

I encourage you to reflect on the hurdles, frustrations, and pivots you’re experiencing in life. You can present these needs before God. Have faith in Him and His promise to be by your side. Invite Him into your thoughts of concern, fear, and even moments of gratitude, for He will ride the rollercoaster with you.
