Let Love Lead the Way
Happy New Year, it’s 2026! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season full of love, joy, and rest.
I’d like to focus this January 2026’s Guidepost Prayer on love.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 states the following:
4. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast. It is not proud.
5. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
6. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
7. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves.
Growth, joy, fulfillment, all the large things we typically strive for in life stem from love. Love for ourselves, our family, friends, neighbors, animals, and planet.
When you have some time in your day, I invite you to make yourself a warm drink, grab some paper, a pen, and find a cozy spot to sit.
Close your eyes and take a moment to breathe, ground yourself.
Where do you recognize love in your life? Where do you feel you can embrace more love? Do you show your appreciation for it? How? What does this passage make you think of?
It’s so easy to give into negative emotions when we feel wronged or hurt. It takes strength to approach everything we experience in life with an open heart and to choose to act with love.
We’re living through some really scary and dark times. Let’s make an effort to care about and empathize with one another. Forgive easily, but make sure to stand up for yourself and others who may not be able to stand up for themselves.
Love is patient, kind, honest, protective, trusting, hopeful, and preserving. Hold it in your arms, hold it in your heart, keep it with you at all times. Embrace God’s love and let it lead the way through you, for we are never alone.
