Colleagues

Pepperdine University is a community dedicated to the service-oriented mission of its founder- George Pepperdine. He envisioned a college where students are given not just the resources they need to succeed in their chosen profession but also the tools to succeed in life itself. His challenge to the alumni was to make their influence felt throughout their lives. By joining the Colleagues through the Graduate School of Education and Psychology, you can have a profound influence on the lives of current students.

We've all heard about the high cost of tuition. But many people don't know that full tuition only pays for two-thirds of a college education! The rest is subsidized by yearly gifts from alumni, parents, and friends. This means that every Pepperdine student receives financial assistance whether they know it or not, even those who may have received a "full ride" scholarship.

The Colleagues is a vital support group that was established to enhance the educational experience for GSEP students and advance the school's position as an innovator in the fields of education and psychology. Below are just a few of the ways we put your Colleagues membership gift to good use.

Grants and Scholarships

For many students, a Pepperdine education is only made possible through grants and scholarships. Membership gifts to the Colleagues enable a greater number of GSEP students to receive financial assistance, and here's why: Corporations and foundations, who often fund major scholarships and grants, use the percentage of alumni participation as a benchmark to see if they should offer support. They want to know how satisfied alumni are with the quality education they received, so your yearly Colleagues membership speaks volumes!

Academic Program Enhancement

Alumni support helps GSEP keep current with the changes occurring in education and psychology as well as attract outstanding faculty members who bring innovative approaches to the classroom.

Faculty and Student Collaboration

Yearly membership gifts to the Colleagues provide valuable assistance to faculty research projects. These often include collaboration with GSEP students, giving them valuable "hands-on" experience in their field while they are still in school.

Library and Computer Resources

In addition to multimedia equipment and services, GSEP offers a comprehensive, full-service research library with access to extensive collections of print, microform and digital resources. Your Colleagues membership gift allows us to continually improve our collection, ensuring that GSEP students have the most current information at their disposal.
