Pepperdine Associate Dean Robert deMayo Receives California Psychology Association Award
Annual 2016 Silver Psi Award presented to GSEP Associate Dean of Psychology for outstanding service to CPA
Los Angeles – April 15, 2016 – Today, the California Psychology Association (CPA) recognizes Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology’s (GSEP) Associate Dean Robert deMayo, PhD, ABPP, for his outstanding service to the CPA at the 2016 CPA Convention at the Hotel Irving in Irving, CA. deMayo was awarded the 2016 Silver Psi Award, which is given to psychologists who have made a significant and continued (five years or more) contribution to the CPA.
“I am deeply honored to receive this award from CPA, and consider it a recognition of the outstanding collective work we do at Pepperdine in educating mental health professionals to serve the people of California,” said Dr. deMayo. “I have had the privilege of mentoring psychology students for the past 26 years at GSEP. Every day I draw inspiration from the way our psychology students and alumni positively impact diverse and underserved communities. I am very grateful for this recognition from the California Psychological Association, which has been tireless in advocating for the profession of psychology and those we serve.”
The theme of the 2016 CPA Convention is ‘Transformation and Innovation in Psychology: Meeting the Needs of Our Complex and Diverse World.’ deMayo will be joined by other recipients who will be recognized for their outstanding service to the CPA, those who have made exemplary contributions to profession and field psychology, and those who have contributed significantly to CPA’s advocacy agenda.
In addition to recognizing its outstanding members, the CPA convention features a number of lectures, continuing-education workshops, and educational sessions. The event will also feature speeches by Kevin Leo Yabut Nadal, PhD, and Howie Mandel.
