Habitat For Humanity In LA Supports Mayor Garcetti In First Citywide Sustainability Program

LA Mayor Garcetti and Habitat for Humanity CEO Erin Rank announcing the WaterWise Homes™ program.

Los Angeles – April 30, 2015– Erin Rank, president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity in Los Angeles, has announced the organization’s support for WaterWise Homes™, the city’s first sustainability program. Led by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, the program aims to assist 1,000 low-income families and individuals with water-efficiency upgrades, improvements and education over the next two years.

Serving low-income homeowners, veterans, seniors, and disabled people, the initiative will help convert existing landscapes into drought-resistant yards, as well as replace interior fixtures with low-flow models. Additionally, the program will educate residents in water and other conservation incentives to create a greener and healthier Los Angeles.

“I was proud to stand with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti as he announced the first-ever citywide sustainability plan. I am excited that this new plan aligns with our organization's top priorities, including affordable housing and energy efficiency. We were one of the first organizations to announce our support and our commitment to being part of the solution,” stated Rank.

Rank is a graduate of the Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology Clinical Psychology program, and is also a member of the Social Entrepreneurship and Change Board of Advisors.
