MA in Clinical Psychology with Emphasis in MFT with Latinx Communities Program Learning Outcomes

GSEP is committed to a learner-centered approach in the programs we offer. Each program has a set of objectives that a student graduating from the program is expected to achieve. The knowledge and skills taught in the program might be introduced in some courses. In other courses, students are asked to apply knowledge by practicing skills and demonstrating their abilities. Within the program, the values and dispositional attributes important for individuals entering the profession are emphasized.

Graduates of the MA in Clinical Psychology (Latinas/os Format) program will be expected to achieve the following objectives:

  • PLO 1: Student will demonstrate knowledge of strength-based approaches, Liberation Psychology principles, interdisciplinary and multisystemic approaches with Latinx communities.
  • PLO 2: Student will critically analyze the influence of colonization, Eurocentric ideological approaches and the role of traditional indigenous healing practices/philosophies in cultivating how we address mental health concerns in Latinx communities.
  • PLO 3: Student will have the ability to self-reflect and explicate the meaning of intersectionality as community members and as mental health professionals.
