Biography

Sean Baker MFT, is co-owner and CEO at The New Beginnings Center for Somatic Mental Health Care in Camarillo, California. As a clinician, he holds certifications in both Somatic Experiencing and Gestalt therapy and uses body-mind approaches to resolve clients' distress. Baker works with people who are dealing with the difficulties of healing trauma, whose symptoms often appear as depression and anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, and illness. He works with LGBTQ+ clients and their families, and advocates for transgender health care, providing staff sensitivity training for health care providers, law enforcement, academic faculty and more. Baker has spoken out on transgender issues to the Ventura Board of Supervisors and presents at national conferences on gender diversity issues in health care. In addition to teaching classes at GSEP, Baker is a clinical supervisor, providing training in the areas of Somatic and Gestalt therapy, trauma treatment, and LGBTQ+ issues.
