Biography

Paula Thompson teaches graduate-level courses in organization design and culture, organization change, qualitative analysis, and doctoral writing. She also chairs dissertations and is proud to have multiple graduates from GSEP. In addition to teaching, Paula is a leadership and career coach for BetterUp, a positive psychology-based company that provides virtual coaching services to Fortune 100 companies.

Paula's areas of intellectual interest are how individuals manage their careers to achieve desired professional outcomes, the application of positive psychology to the workplace, and the internal – and often hidden – aspects of work performance. Paula previously served as the Program Director for Faculty Development at the Duke University School of Medicine and the Assistant Dean for Faculty Affairs at the University of Southern California.
