Biography

Mary Katherine (Katie) Harris is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, doctoral level, and licensed behavior analyst. She earned her doctorate at Utah State University in the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation with an emphasis in applied behavior analysis. Dr. Harris also holds a special education credential from Chapman University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley. While studying at Utah State, she helped establish Autism Support Services: Education, Research, & Training (ASSERT), an early intensive behavioral intervention program for children with autism.

Harris has more than 20 years of experience working with children and adults with disabilities in a variety of environments. Most of her experience is with children with autism and severe disabilities; she has served as a behavior specialist, special educator, instructional coach, and special education coordinator.

Harris has consulted with local districts to build capacity for behavior specialists/autism specialists and set up classrooms that supported empirically validated methodologies. She has also collaborated in international training to establish applied behavior analytic services in early intervention centers. In addition, she is an adjunct professor at Utah State University where she teaches courses in the verified course sequence for the applied behavior analytic track.
