Biography

Dr. Leah Samler received both her master's and doctorate in clinical psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Her focus was in psychodynamic therapy and forensic psychology.

Her training background includes providing outpatient treatment for adolescents and adults with depression, trauma history, ADHD, and anxiety, and utilizing a relational psychodynamic approach.

Additionally, she spent several years delivering treatment services to adolescents with serious emotional and behavioral disorders while providing intensive therapy and advocacy to troubled youth in therapeutic day school settings.

Dr. Samler has an extensive background in forensic settings, working with adults in state hospital forensic units (Unfit to Stand Trial and Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity) and county and state correctional settings, and youth in the foster care system. She has experience with services and collaborative care across several domains, including DCFS, DHS, and the Cook and Lake County court systems. She also worked with the Chicago Police Department conducting pre-hire screenings and assessments.
