Cindy Finch, LCSW

Biography

In addition to being an adjunct professor of psychology at Pepperdine, Finch works as a clinical social worker and individual and family therapist at the DBT Center of Orange County with more than 20 years of experience.

Trained by Alan Fruzzetti, the developer of Family Connections, Finch serves as the coordinator of family therapy at the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Center of Orange County (DBTOC). She also specializes in the treatment of trauma and is clinically trained in the evidence-based-practice of prolonged exposure treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder.

Finch received her master's degree (MSW) in clinical social work from University of St. Thomas/St. Catherine University in Minnesota where she also trained and worked at Mayo Clinic before moving to Southern California in 2014. Finch has received extensive training in the areas of DBT; emotion-focused couple's therapy; solution-focused therapy; positive psychology; divorce recovery; blended family support; management of traumatic, life-threatening or chronic illness; sex addiction; stress reduction and resiliency training; psycho-oncology; women's care over the lifespan, and end of life support.

Finch is also a nationally published writer and a contributing author of "I Am With You – Love Letters to Cancer Patients" and been involved in research on "The Bio-Psychosocial effect of Cancer on Women ages 20 – 35". She is licensed as a therapist with the State of CA.
