It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Graduate School of Education and Psychology student Emily Delangue. The University was notified that Emily passed away on August 6, 2026.

A Westport, Connecticut, native and recent San Diego, California, transplant, Emily started at GSEP in 2021 as a student of the online master of arts in clinical psychology program and was expected to graduate in December 2026. Emily’s family describes her as a proud and dedicated student whose lifelong dream was to pursue a master’s degree. She was months away from completing the program, which she deeply valued and championed.

Remembering Emily and her time at Pepperdine, GSEP adjunct professor Jennifer Bangoura shared, “Emily was a student of mine this term, and in our email communications and live session encounters I could immediately tell she was someone special who took life by the horns. She quickly found ways to connect with her classmates and me through shared experiences and expressed in her assignments and in-class discussions how pursuing her psychology degree at Pepperdine was giving her own life a greater sense of purpose. Her passing is a deep loss for the Pepperdine community and world.”

A celebration of Emily’s life will be held at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle, Illinois, on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 11 AM CDT. The service will also be livestreamed.

For those who wish to send condolences to Emily’s family, please send cards, notes, or letters to: Vice President for Student Affairs, TCC 210, Mail Code 4472. The Student Affairs office will forward all correspondence to Emily’s family.

We offer our deepest condolences to Emily’s family, friends, and loved ones and keep them in our hearts during this time of grief. Please join me in lifting up Emily’s family in prayer and remembering Emily as a beloved member of our Pepperdine community.
