The GSEP Spotlight Series highlights students and alumni whose journeys reflect purpose, service, and leadership in action. In this spotlight, we feature Billie Wakeham, a purpose-driven professional whose psychology background helps others build meaningful careers.

From early on, Billie Wakeham felt a strong pull to help others—a purpose that would later shape both her academic and professional journey. Through the Online Master of Arts in Psychology program at the Pepperdine Graduate School of Education and Psychology (GSEP), Billie gained a deep understanding of human behavior and motivation, and the confidence to apply that knowledge in ways that make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

Now working as a recruiter at Insight Global, she draws upon her psychology background to guide individuals through one of life’s most pivotal transitions: finding meaningful work. Whether she’s helping someone craft a résumé or coaching them through a job search, Billie is committed to helping people discover careers that align with their strengths, values, and goals.

Billie’s commitment to service extends beyond her day-to-day work. She recently served on the #Jamii Career Panel, where she joined fellow Pepperdine alumni to share insights and career advice with current students. For Billie, it was a powerful way to give back to the community that helped shape her own path.

She also serves on Insight Global’s Women’s Leadership Council, a 390-member organization focused on advancing women in the workplace. Passionate about women’s empowerment, Billie works to foster a culture where women are supported, mentored, and given equal opportunities to lead and grow.

“Throughout my career, I’ve seen firsthand the potential women bring to organizations,” she shares. “Empowering women helps entire teams thrive—and that’s the kind of impact I want to be a part of.”
