Roommate Referral Service
GSEP Student Services offers a roommate referral service to help individuals with similar housing needs make contact with each other. After you complete the Roommate Referral and Release of Liability Form, a list of possible roommate contacts will be prepared and mailed to you. You will remain on the Roommate Referral Listing document until you send a written request for us to remove your information. After the list is emailed to you, it is your responsibility to contact the individual(s) to make further arrangements.
The purpose of the Roommate Referral Service is to provide housing assistance for GSEP students. While Pepperdine University is pleased to assist with the search for roommates and residency, the University’s role is limited to that of liaison between interested students and rental information resources. The University makes no attempt to select or screen students who wish to participate in the Roommate Referral Service. Rather, participation in this service is based solely upon individual desire.
I acknowledge and understand that in order to participate in the Roommate Referral Service offered by Pepperdine University GSEP, I am required to sign the Release of Liability (hereinafter called “the Release”). I acknowledge and understand that the purpose of this Release is to protect and insulate Pepperdine University and its agents and employees (hereinafter called “the University”) from any and all liability, which may arise or be related to my participation in the Roommate Referral Service offered through the University.
I further acknowledge and understand that an integral part of the Roommate Referral Service involves some risks and dangers associated with my name and telephone number being distributed to students. Among other things, these risks may include, but are not limited to, loss or damage to personal property, injury, or fatality.
I understand that Pepperdine University provides the Roommate Referral Service as a courtesy service. Accordingly, I assume all risks and danger associated with or incidental to my receipt of such service and release the University from all related liability.
I acknowledge that the University is offering me an optional housing opportunity to take part in the Roommate Referral Service. I have chosen to use this service on my own volition and I assume all risks and dangers associated with or incidental to such participation. Knowing the dangers, hazards, and risks of partaking in the Roommate Referral Service, on behalf of myself, family, heirs, and personal representative(s), I, the undersigned, agree to assume all the risks and responsibilities surrounding my participation in the Roommate Referral Service. Furthermore, in advance, I release, waive and forever discharge the University from and against any and all liability including but not limited to harm, injury, damage, claims, demands, actions, causes of action, and costs or expenses that I may have or that may hereafter accrue related to my participation in this service. I hereby further agree that this release shall be governed and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of California.
