Biography

Dr. Sharmeen Mahmud is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the Director of a boutique mental health and wellness firm. She has over 20 years of experience in providing school-based therapy services at organizations such as Los Angeles Unified School District and consulting with public and charter schools on behavioral health services. Sharmeen Mahmud is also a credentialed School Counselor (PPS) and School Administrator in the state of California. She is the founder of a trauma-informed social-emotional learning program entitled Calm with Character. Her research interests are in trauma-informed school practices and educator wellness. Her accolades include a Doctor of Education with a Specialization in Mind Brain and Teaching from Johns Hopkins University and a Masters in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from the University of Southern California.
