Dr. Rowe teaches courses on socio-cultural influences on human behavior, theories and strategies of clinical intervention and provides clinical supervision to both masters and doctoral students. He was the recipient of the Howard A. White Teaching Award for Teaching Excellence, from Pepperdine University in 2004. He is the National Chair of The African Psychology Institute, the training arm of the Association of Black Psychologists, where he has recently coordinated the development of a comprehensive curriculum for African Psychology. Currently he is finalizing a web-based database for accessing psychological literature that pertains to persons of African descent. He regularly consults with various local, state and national agencies and organizations regarding cultural diversity issues, working with different clinical populations, alternative approaches to psychotherapy, and other issues that aid the social and interpersonal functioning of persons of African descent. He is the author of numerous publications and has presented at professional organizations, nationally and internationally. He is a licensed psychologist and maintains a small private practice. The practice emphasizes the psychological and communal needs of persons of African descent, with special focus on marital and family relationships. Recently he launched a community empowerment program - Conversations in Marriage© - to stimulate dialogue on strengthening the African-descent community through promoting marriage - both historically and contemporarily.
