CABE Pepperdine Secures CABE Teachership Award For A 2022 MAT Candidate

Janet Lee HeadshotCABE Pepperdine has secured a CABE Teachership award for Janet Lee, a secondary social studies teacher candidate enrolled at the Calabasas Graduate Campus in her second semester of studies in the MAT program.

Growing up as an English learner herself, she is now proud to be joining the profession as an educator and believes this award will help her become a stronger advocate for English learners in schools.

"As a former Korean immigrant El student, I always had a passion to become an advocate for bilingual students. I want to remind our bilingual students that having another language as their primary language is an asset not a problem that needs to be fixed. I will take this award as a reaffirmation of my devotion to bilingual students and my continued support of their cultural heritage."
