PSY 701 Research Methods in Clinical Psychology (3)
The purpose of this survey course is to expose students to the variety of quantitative and qualitative research methods and designs most frequently used in research relevant to the practice of clinical psychology. These include randomized clinical trials, quasiexperimental research, case control studies, descriptive survey research, psychometric studies, meta-analytic studies, case study research, phenomenological research, and evaluation research. Attention will be given to issues of cultural diversity in research, research validity and bias, the connection between research questions and appropriate methodologies, and the link between science and practice.
