EDTC 611 Advanced Study of English Language Learners (3)
This course provides advanced study for the delivery of comprehensive, specialized instruction for English learners. Candidates learn to implement the state-adopted instructional program for the development of K-12 students' academic language, comprehension, and knowledge in the core academic curriculum. Candidates become familiar with local and state-adopted assessments for English language proficiency and learn how these instruments are used to measure student accomplishment and placement. Candidates investigate how to use students' backgrounds, experiences, and family structures in instruction planning and individual student learning. A teaching position in a K-12 classroom is desired for participants in this class.
