
Ken Murrell
Biography
Prior to his graduate education, Dr. Murrell held numerous jobs in the private sector before receiving an invitation to join the U.S. Army in Southeast Asia. Upon his return from Southeast Asia, he completed both his MBA and doctoral degree while consulting and working with diverse client companies. Before accepting a full time teaching role after his doctoral course work, Dr. Murrell joined the pharmaceutical firm G. D. Searle in Chicago as an internal OD consultant working with Geoff Bellman and a large team of international OD professionals. When G. D. Searle was reorganized, he left the U.S. for several years while he worked as a consultant and professor in the Middle East and traveled the world.
Currently, Dr, Murrell is also a professor of Management/MIS at the University of West Florida. Dr. Murrell also teaches each fall a MBA class in Germany to European students and is a visiting scholar at the Center for Socio-Economic Development in Geneva, Switzerland.
He has held academic roles at the University of Monterrey in Mexico, the Monterey Institute of International Studies, the American University of Cairo; George Washington and American Universities in Washington DC; Benedictine University and Antioch University in their OD programs both in the Chicago area. Dr. Murrell has also been on the faculty at St. Bonaventure University in New York, and presented lectures at Columbia, DePaul, Brooklyn Polytechnic, University of Nebraska at Omaha; Salford University in England, the Keil Centre in Scotland, the University of West Romania, and in Sweden with the joint Stockholm School of Economics and Chalmers University in Gothenburg. Recently he has lectured at Dutong University in China and the Peoples University in Beijing.
Dr. Murrell has extensive international experience in Organizational Development and Management Development in improving organizational effectiveness. He has traveled in over 60 countries working with a wide variety of Management Education Centers, the United Nations Development Program, and several host governments. He has also worked with a wide variety of global corporations including Motorola, Kodak, Pfizer, and Toyota. Dr. Murrell has consulted to three Baldridge Award winning companies to include Baptist Hospital, located in his hometown of Pensacola, Florida where he resides with his family of five.
