Joseph Green

Biography

Dr. Green is an adjunct professor in the Education Division at the Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology, where he teaches Advanced Study of Teaching Special Populations; Research Capstone Seminar; Dissertation Research; and Cognition, Instruction, and Assessment. Dr. Green is a 24-year veteran with LAUSD, with a career that began as a classroom teacher prior to taking on collateral roles at the school site level to include coordinating special education services and mentoring new teachers. In recent years, he held various administrative positions with the Division of Special Education, where he supervised itinerant staff, delivered professional development, as well as assisted the Associate Superintendent in the development of policies and publications. In his last position, Dr. Green served as a specialist in Human Resources, where he recruited highly qualified prospective educators to fill areas of vacancies/shortage. Dr. Green is currently an administrator in Los Angeles Unified School District's Office of the General Counsel, where he coordinates and conducts investigations ranging from civil rights violations, special education compliance, bullying, unlawful charging of pupil fees, and more. His expertise is utilized to address the District's advocacy for students and families of various protected classes, and raising awareness of District policy and procedure. Dr. Green is a graduate of the GSEP's Educational Leadership, Administration, and Policy (ELAP) doctoral program. His research interests are in the areas of special education teacher job commitment, special education, classroom instruction, and educational leadership.
