Johnson's professional experience includes 20 years of work in the sexuality field. She began as a consultant at the Fleming Center, a resource center for sexual health in Raleigh, North Carolina. She currently works in a private clinic specializing in sexual issues, and teaches courses in the area of sexuality at Cypress Community College. Her special interests include religion and sexuality, couples sex therapy, and cross-cultural sexuality issues.
