John A. Chandler, Ed.D.
Emeritus Professor of Education

Dr. Chandler taught in the GSEP at Pepperdine for almost 30 years. He has more than 40 years of classroom teaching and administrative experience. From 1973 to 1999 he taught at the Master's level, then also taught at the doctoral level from 1980 on. His teaching interests included ethics and the history and philosophy of education, with a particular concern over the preparation of classroom teachers. His last research activity was in the field of value education. Dr. Chandler retired from full-time teaching at Pepperdine in 1999.


Mara Leigh Taylor (MA '03, MA '06) founded Getting Out By Going In after more than five years of volunteer work inside prisons, teaching more than 600 inmates tools for rapid and lasting changes, and recently authored a book titled Women in Prison: Women Finding Freedom.
