Robert deMayo Presented at 2013 Voice Awards

Robert deMayo Presents at Voice AwardsGSEP Associate Dean, Professor and MA Psychology Program Director Robert deMayo, PhD, was a presenter at the 2013 Voice Awards, an event sponsored by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Agency (SAMHSA). The 8th annual event occurred during National Recovery Month on September 25, 2013 at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, California.

DeMayo presented an award to Kevin Hanlon, the director of Bill W., a film about the founder of Alcoholics Anonymous. The documentary addresses substance use disorders, peer support, and recovery.

The Voice Awards honor consumer/peer leaders who share their recovery stories and work to clear misperceptions associated with mental and/or substance use disorders.

GSEP has an active Diversity Council, comprised of faculty, staff, and students, whose aim is to promote discourse and foster multicultural proficiency. The Council developed a biannual speaker series to provide a forum for representatives of varied backgrounds and views to speak on subjects affecting the fields of education and mental health.
