Current learning technologies doctoral student David Greenfield was recently elected to the board of the Museum Educators of Southern California (MESC). The board created a new position for Greenfield: chair for technology and social media strategy.
MESC is a nonprofit for museum professionals that works to ensure museums place education at the center of their activities. They increase diversity in the museum education field, strengthen the role of museum educators within institutions and provide professional training.
In addition to being elected to the MESC board, Greenfield recently spoke on a panel at the Museums and the Web 2013 conference and wrote a guest blog post for edgital.org on his conference presentation on massively open online courses, or MOOCs. He also spoke at Future Salon LA on the topic of MOOCs education, and was quoted in a blog post on Art Museum Teaching.
Greenfield has over 20 years experience in new media, art, and education. His experience in digital media spans the corporate (communication design, computer-based training), museum (new media development, education, curatorial, registration) and academic (teaching students as well as instructors). In addition, he has photographed and cataloged several private collections of art and crafts using state of the art digital collection management systems
