The Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology (GSEP) is pleased to welcome Dr. Richard Sherman to the Board of Visitors. Sherman is a clinical psychologist who currently serves as President of the California Board of Psychology, which has the express mission to protect the consumer of psychological services. Sherman states, “I have long been a proponent of quality graduate school education, which makes my new service to the Board of Visitors all the more meaningful.” He further shares, “I really appreciate the fine education that Pepperdine students receive. In fact, our older daughter earned her Masters in Public Policy at Pepperdine and she is proud to say it was the best education that she has ever had”.
One of Sherman's goals is to continue to educate the public regarding the role of psychologists. Previously, he was President of the California Psychological Association and the Los Angeles County Psychological Association. He has a general private practice in Tarzana, California and in addition, has over the years consulted with numerous corporations and their staff, including Boeing, Maritz, and Symantec. Sherman is an author of many articles and has co-written Divorcing with Kids: An Interactive Workbook for Parents and their Children. In addition, he serves as local & national media expert on a variety of subjects including the impact of the Internet and social media on individuals and families, and is an occasional radio contributor/producer.
