GSEP professor emeritus and president of the Society for Humanistic Psychology, David Elkins is featured in USA Today opposing the proposed changes in the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-5)
He and other colleagues have drawn up an online petition urging the DSM-5 Task Force to reconsider adding a number of diagnoses to the fifth edition. According to Dr. Elkins, the main purpose the petition was to garner attention from a task force that has "become very insular," and to urge the reconsideration of some of the proposed diagnostic categories.
