GSEP Launches Scholarship Program Open to All Pepperdine Alumni

The Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology (GSEP) is excited to announce a new scholarship program to support Pepperdine alumni during the current economic downturn. The Waves EDGE (Education Development Growth and Excellence) program is open to all Pepperdine alumni who have applied for one of the six master's or five doctoral degree programs that will begin in the summer or fall terms of 2009.

"Waves EDGE was created to demonstrate GSEP's concern for all of our valued Pepperdine alumni, and reach out to them in a meaningful way during these difficult economic times," said Dr. Margaret Weber, dean of GSEP. "Our goal is to ensure that those that want to retool after recent job losses or enhance their skills with an advanced degree are not denied that opportunity due to any financial restrictions."

Scholarship recipients will be awarded $5,000 toward a master's degree, and $10,000 toward a doctoral degree, to be disbursed over the first 3 terms of their program. To qualify, applicants must meet the admissions requirements and be accepted to their program of choice, complete a 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid, and submit the three question scholarship application. Awards will be based on financial need, clarity of career goals, and alumni affinity for the university's mission.

Dean Weber reiterated, "One of the core values at GSEP is our mission to serve. Establishing this scholarship program is our way of acknowledging the significant challenges facing communities both locally and globally, and lending a hand to those in our extended Pepperdine family."
