Educational Technology Student Traveling to Nepal to Study Cultural Competency

Nepal

This summer elementary school teacher and current Pepperdine University Educational Technology doctoral student, Jeffery Lee will visit several schools in Nepal to research teaching practices and focus on the topic of cultural competency. With the generous support from Fund For Teachers, Lee and his Corey Elementary school colleague, Heather Guay hope to conduct an investigation on how teachers in Nepal embrace both modern and Western influences, while upholding the rich cultural traditions of Nepal.

Fund for Teachers enriches the personal and professional growth of teachers by recognizing and supporting them as they identify and pursue opportunities around the globe. It is the aim of Fund for Teachers that the summer learning experienced by the teachers will have the greatest impact on their practice, the academic lives of their students and on their school communities.

GSEP has an active Diversity Council, comprised of faculty, staff, and students, whose aim is to promote discourse and foster multicultural proficiency. The Council developed a biannual speaker series to provide a forum for representatives of varied backgrounds and views to speak on subjects affecting the fields of education and mental health.
