KEYNOTE ADDRESS

Angella Nazarian - Pepperdine GSEPAngella Nazarian: "Global Perspectives on Women's Leadership"

Today more than ever, women are breaking boundaries in all areas of society. We can fill an entire library with data on the power of resourcing their potential. What are some of the threads or traits of visionary women leaders? History proves that success has no gender, race, social class or economic status. Angella Nazarian's decade-long research on leadership shows common threads that appear in the lives of successful leaders everywhere. Her keynote presentation is packed with case studies of some of the most dynamic women leaders of our time, and highlights their career trajectories.

Ms. Nazarian is co-founder and president of Visionary Women, a non-profit women's leadership organization in Los Angeles.  She is also an author and international speaker. Her first book, Life as a Visitor, chronicles her departure from Iran and life as a refugee in California. Her second book, Pioneers of the Possible: Celebrating Visionary Women of the World, shares a collection of essays about female role models. Her third book, Visionary Women, highlights the lives of twenty female luminaries of modern times. Ms. Nazarian has taught psychology at the collegiate level and incorporates her training and teaching experience in her writing and speaking engagements. She is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post, Maria Shriver's "Open field network" and MORE.com.

Margaret J. Weber - Pepperdine GSEPDr. Margaret J. Weber: "The Status of Women Around the Globe"

Dr. Weber is a senior fellow with the Institute for Global Engagement. In this role she travels the globe working with local partners in government, religious leaders, and scholars to help build sustainable environments to ensure that people of all faiths and those that do not subscribe to any faith practice have full freedom of conscience and can participate as equal citizens in public life. Dr. Weber also served as dean of the Graduate School of Education and Psychology at Pepperdine University for 13 years.  During her tenure she developed and launched the Master of Arts in Social Entrepreneurship and Change program in the education division.

Hung Le - Pepperdine GSEPHung Le: "Cloister Envy: Living with Expanded Reality"

Essential outcomes of education include the broadening of the mind, strengthening of the heart, and sensitizing of the spirit. Effective learning includes opportunities for us to engage the world, be involved with its challenges and revel in its possibilities. In so doing, we expand the boundaries of our reality and use our gifts, fueled by our passion, to meet the needs of a hurting world and to make life more abundant.
